If you are in a college or school the chances are you can’t use your Bit Torrent client to download the TV shows you want to watch. Increasingly, colleges and schools are restricting this type of traffic and with good reason. You can still watch TV online on these networks by using a streaming client, thereby getting around their restrictions.
Why do colleges and schools restrict Bit Torrent?
Like I said previously they have good reason to. In the last couple of years there has been legal action taken against colleges and schools because of illegal TV show and movie downloads. These come in the form of RIAA notices, and for each infringement the college or school has to pay fines. These fines can be thousands of dollars ดูหนังออนไลน์, and that is money they could be spending on the computer network, or on getting better courses to their students. It is hard to blame them for restricting this type of traffic considering the costs involved in either paying the fines themselves or tracking down the student on the network who has made the infringing download and giving them the fine to pay. It’s a waste of resources all around.
What does this mean for you?
Quite simply it means if you want to torrent your TV programs so you can watch them on your computer you need a connection that does not use the college or school network. Or find an alternative way to watch the programs.
What if you still want to watch TV online from your college or school network?
It can be done, and you wouldn’t be using Bit Torrent to do it. Streaming technology has been around for years, and has been refined so that you get the same type of quality as watching a downloaded show. If you download a client it is similar to watching TV on your computer, complete with your choice of channels.
How does streaming get around the restrictions?
Streaming works by using a different Internet protocol to Bit Torrent. In fact, it’s very similar to the protocol used by websites. It’s called Real Time Streaming Protocol or RSTP for short. Because the two look so similar when a show is streamed to your computer it looks just like you are downloading a website if looked at in the network. Be aware, though, that there are two types of clients available. The first type relies on Peer to Peer technology, and is usually called P2PTV. You don’t want this one, because it still has the same issue as Bit Torrent, and will more than likely be blocked by your network. The type of client you are after is a streaming client. Make sure this is what you get.
You can watch TV online even if your network restricts Bit Torrent. Use a client and you’ll soon be watching your favorite TV show again, and in real time too.
