Recycling Plastic Can Be Advantageous to Environment

Plastic can take many forms but the most common form is the polyethylene terephthalate plastic. This is because it is an ingredient in the manufacturing of windows, plastic cards and labels. There is also another type of plastic which is thermoplastic, thermoplastics or thermoplastic polymeric. Thermoplastic refers to a plastic that has a high thermal conductivity. Plastic can also be mixed with other materials such as rubber and thermoforming resins. These thermoplastic materials have been introduced to the market in the mid 1960’s and the original plastic has been called polyethylene terephthalate.

PropertiesPlastics are made from a wide range of chemical compounds or polymer systems that utilise solvents to convert liquid into various other substances. The most common plastics are polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride and polylactic acid. Polyethylene terephthalate is the original form of plastic made by the DuPont Company and it is still being used today. It was first called Polyethylene Chloride because it used chlorinated benzene but later on it was changed to Polyethylene Terephthalate because it gave better results. Other common plastics are polyvinyl chloride, polypropylene, polystyrene and polylactic acid. Each of these different types of plastic made have their own properties seal nhua niem phong.

Recycling Although the invention of polystyrene is credited to the US, other countries are now beginning to use plastic marked for recycling purposes. There are many countries around the world who have become more interested in recycling plastic because of its many advantages. Apart from being very light weight, it is also recyclable and very hard wearing. It does not break down as much as other plastics and it is more resistant to chemicals than other materials.

With the widespread use of plastics there are now more concerns about the impact on the environment. It is used to make so much plastic that it has all but filled up our landfills. Plastic is now a major factor in greenhouse gas emissions because it does not decompose easily and is instead broken down into smaller compounds that can be released into the air and landfills. It takes millions of trees to produce one ton of plastic and this number is constantly growing due to global warming. This problem is only exacerbated when one considers that one ton of plastic can add up to the mass of all the waste that lands in the US’s landfills every year. Thus recycling efforts must be stepped up immediately if we are to arrest the rising tide of plastics in our landfills and reduce the amount of harm that they cause to our environment.

The process of recycling programs will only work if government support is given to help with the problem. A recent study shows that government recycling programs are actually having a positive impact on reducing the amount of plastic waste that is being dumped into our landfills. Recycling programs such as the plastic bag bill have also been successful in slowing the growth of the number of plastic bottles being thrown away each day. Governments all over the world are now looking at ways to help reduce the growing number of plastic bottles that are being discarded. They are also trying to come up with programs that will enable people to recycle plastic in their own homes.

There are many other ways in which people can recycle their plastic. Many small grocery stores offer their customers the option of purchasing a special plastic bin to store their recyclable plastics. The recycling program of some fast food restaurants offer a free plastic cup when customers bring their used cups to their store. Thus, if everyone used these various plastic recycling programs, the amount of plastic waste being dumped in landfills and the amount of landfill space available would be drastically reduced.
